Fellow Keepers of Trogdor!

We made an album of short songs about how to play Trogdor!! The Board Game! But before that, we made the actual rulebook for playing Trogdor!! The Board Game! And we did so by collaborating with Mike Selinker and the awesome folks at Loneshark Games!

They helped Strong Bad take the rules that Mike, Matt, and James Ernest wrote and make them even more awesome by letting him have his way with the rulebook, taping new rules and snarky comments in on loose leaf wherever he pleased!

Onto the music! We made the rulebook as awesome as possible but just in case you hate reading things, we made a buncha songs to both help you remember the rules and, quite possibly, even entertain you! 

Here's a link to all the songs but help yourself to a taste as Strong Bad gives you the Quickstart Overview (audio only, video to come, we swear!):

The plan is to add these songs to the Trogdor!! Soundboard for easy access while playing the game. And we might make more songs plus some videos for them as well! We hope you guys enjoy these dumb songs!

Oh look! Here's a full, non-prototype of the deluxe Burninator version (the one with the wooden meeples AND the plastic minis).

And we have good news for you card-sleevers out there! Sleeved cards will totally still fit in the box! Note that our Keeper and Item cards are NOT standard tarot card height, they are actually shorter. So you could still put them in standard tarot sleeves and just trim the top of the sleeve. 

Wyrmwood update! Production on the wooden boxes and gameboards from Wyrmwood Gaming is progressing nicely. Check out these pics of the sweet foam inserts in the Wingaling and Consummate tiers!

And now some friend news! James Ernest of Cheapass Games has a live Kickstarter for his new book which chronicles his 22 years making games and features anecdotes and rules for over 100 games! Including this one about working at a crappy Ren Faire!

Ink Washed Minis and Music!

Fellow Keepers of Trogdor,

Look at how this ink wash brings out all the tiny details in these miniatures! 

The archers both shoot lefty! There's a Trogdor on the knights' shields (which is a little weird since they want to kill him)! And the peasants are apparently wearing mittens and have no faces! Who knew until the almighty ink wash showed us the light?!

Also, thank you all for checking out the soundboard! We got great feedback and are improving it accordingly. On that note, as we were working on the soundboard, a couple of our little musical stingers started to turn into full-fledged songs about how to play the game.

Here is a rough demo Matt sent to Mike one night (audio only):

Two seconds later they decided to make a whole Rulebook EP of short songs to accompany the game rules and maybe earworm some rules into player's heads. These will just be released digitally or possibly included with the soundboard. All your made-up favorites contributed tunes to this: Limozeen, Taranchula, Brainkrieg, Cool Tapes, and Sloshy. And then, of course, Strong Bad, Homestar, Coach Z, Marzipan, and even Strong Sad show up to sing songs of their own!

And last, a boring bit of biz (or triple B, as we like to call it). We have upgraded the t-shirt brand for anyone who ordered a shirt from the BackerKit store because of issues we heard about the previous brand we chose. Soundboard Beta, Pins, and Hot Tray Pics!

Fellow Keepers of Tragdar (Trogdor),

Let's get right to it! The soundboard web app is ready for you to annoy your friends, family, and coworkers with!

There are two screens: a quick access menu, and an 'every dang sound' menu. Choose background music and then hit a button when something good or bad happens to get a random quote, sound effect, or short music sting. Or scroll over to the 'every dang sound' menu to choose the exact sounds you want! 

Let us know what you think of it, especially those who have made Print & Play versions of the game. It should auto-format for all devices if you don't want to drag your Compy 386 across the room to your board gaming table.

Next up, here are some prototypes of the enamel pins that were also available in the pre-order store.

As you can see, the manufacturer wasn't sure what to do with Loose Leaf Trogdor. We are working on that. For now, this pin gets to join our elite, one-of-a-kind misinterpreted-by-the-manufacturer hall of fame! 

And last, and most exciting of all... who doesn't love PLASTIC INSERT TRAY PICS!! 

Obviously, this is using all unpainted prototype assets and pieces but this is how the trays will work. For those who backed the meeple-only version, there will be a white cardboard spacer where the tray for the miniatures sits. Cards, tiles, and Trog-Meter on the left. Plastic minis on the right. Meeples in the midst.

Puppet Strong Bad will be joined by flesh jambles Mike Chapman, Lucky Yates, and Homestar-alum Ryan Sterritt as they play a few rounds of Trogdor!! The Board Game (duh). Ryan has never played before so that should be hilarious and Strong Bad has decided to crowdsource all of his moves in the game from chat suggestions so who knows what'll happen! A flood of hijinks awaits!

Pre-Production Copy Pics plus Soundboard Progress!

Happy New Year fellow Keepers of Trogdor,

Before we were sucked into the holiday vortex, we received a pre-production copy of the game. It's not the final-final, like, final-final-final thing, but very close. I will now shut up and start showing you GIFs!

We will continue to give you guys production updates and other cool pics as they come in. 

Now here's a very work-in-progress GIF of the companion soundboard web app:

It'll be browser-based and optimized for whatever device you're using. It will have a random mode with big buttons for either "GOOD" or "BAD" things that happen in the game. Mashing one of these buttons will get you a random sound effect, Strong Bad quote, short music sting, or worse! Or for a more curated experience you can access all the sounds and music in a list to pick and choose for yourself.

And last, we're finally getting to another livestream playthrough with this sweet new pre-production copy of the game! Currently scheduled for Tuesday January 8th @ 8pm EST. Join us and help crowdsource Strong Bad's game decisions from the chat section!
